Maja Mattle-Greminger
Principal Investigator

Maja is head of the Department of Research and Development at the Blood Transfusion Service Zurich in Switzerland. Maja holds a PhD in Population Genomics from the University of Zurich. Since 2008 she has been applying next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics in her research. One focus of her current research is on using the latest long-read sequencing technologies to further investigate blood group genetics and improve molecular diagnostics in transfusion Medicine and Haematology.

Before joining the Blood Transfusion Service Zurich, Maja was a researcher and lecturer at the University of Zurich, with a focus on population genomics of great apes and humans.

Stefan Meyer
Principal Investigator

Stefan Meyer is head of the Department of Molecular Diagnostics and Cytometry at Blood Transfusion Service Zürich in Switzerland. Stefan is specialist FAMH Medical Genetics and holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany.

He joined the Blood Transfusion Service Zurich in 2012, with a research focus on high-throughput blood group genotyping by mass spectrometry. Between 2015 and 2018, he worked in different medical genetics laboratories in Switzerland to further specialize on the degree of FAMH Medical Genetics, required for heading a medical diagnostics laboratory in Switzerland.
